I Choose Happiness… (Villanelle)

 

I will choose happiness today
It exists even when hidden
By life’s pain, I will not be swayed

Sorrow will surely come my way
Seeking my fall with ambition
I will choose happiness today

People will most likely betray
Channeling their anger wthin
By life’s pain I will not be swayed

My wishes will be cast away
Frustration Will attempt to win
I will choose happiness today

Annoyances will heavy weigh
Peace threatened by aggravation
By life’s pain I will not be swayed

Storms will come to lead me astray
Rain will impart strong affliction
I will choose happiness today
By life’s pain I will not be swayed

You are light and hope in darkness

Your love I will forever pursue

 

It has always been me who withdrew

Yet You loved me still despite this

I don’t want to know life without You

 

I wish that everybody knew

Your shared gifts of love and solace

Your love I will forever pursue

 

The shackles of past pains You undo

Freedom is known in Your promise

I don’t want to know life without You

 

I believe that what You say is true

And Your strength I wish to harness

Your love I will forever pursue

 

I trust that You will see me through

My heart You constantly renew
