A Halloween Poem…

There is an evil,
Like a dark pungent mist,
Consuming the innocent.

Unseen principalities of darkness,
A wicked one who prowls,
Seeking those he may devour.

Feeding upon our fears,
Clawing at our hopes,
Drowning our dreams with tears.

Demons doing the bidding,
Of satan himself,
From deep within the spiritual realm.

Vampires, werewolves and goblins
Differ from this scary.
Know thine enemy…

Veil To No Avail…

The face of evil
Kept under veil
Until exposed
Manifesting hell
Playing nice
As to lure
The unsuspecting
Hearts true, pure
Strategic hunter
Essence of foreboding
Dark as pitch
Cause of light eroding
Destroyer of peace
Nurturer of fear
Claws grip tight
Rip and tare
Seeking ownership
Of the soul
Which will be theirs
Without God’s hold

Majority Wins…

The darkness of a tilted world,
Overshadowed by majority light.
Dominating what’s down below,
But powerless over God’s might.

Ominous in appearance.
Thriving on intimidation.
A false portrayal of fear,
Your chosen mask of illusion.

Walking In The Spirit…

If I’m to walk in the spirit,
I have to take steps in faith.
It’s easy to remain stagnant,
A slave to my self-centered ways.

I must be tuned in,
Listening for the still, quiet voice.
Which leads me on the narrow path,
And buffers against worldly noise.

While the spirit voice always speaks,
I sometimes attempt to ignore.
Hands on ears “la-la-la-la-la-la-la”,
A sad scene for sure.

At times, the darkness I embrace,
Pours acid on my soul.
Muffles the voice of the spirit,
Making it less recognizable.

I get caught up in self will,
Seeking only that which I desire.
I try to make my steps my own,
And often walk straight into fire.

To do the “next right thing”,
I must obey Holy Spirit promptings.
An obedience I cannot adhere to,
While entertaining enemy tauntings.

I see God…

In a sunset, fiery red and orange,

Or the perfection of a child newly born.

In the colorful array of a peacocks’ plumes,

Or the simplistic beauty of wild daisies in bloom.

In the delicate dance of the butterfly,

Or the majestic eagle ascending a deep cobalt sky.

I see God…

In the laughter-induced smiles of children at play,

Or the fresh smell of newly fallen rain.

In a rose’s velvet touch and perfumed scent,

Or the compassion and kindness of a loving friend.

In the cool flowing waters that tail winters’ frost,

Or the gift of hope when once all was lost.

I see God…

In the autumn leaves blanketing the hillsides,

Or the tearful hellos after long good-byes.

In the serendipitous moment of epiphany,

Or loves’ role in the quickening heartbeat.

In the cool breeze upon a contemplative face,

Or the expansive glory of outer space.

I see God…

In a rainbow’s appearance after a storm,

Or strength gained from trials overcome.

In the melodic hymns sung by the birds,

Or the gathering together of gifted words.

In the mountain silhouettes accompanying dawn or setting sun,

Or the flowering cactus among the dry beige and barren.

I see God…

I could fill endless pages with the beauty that is He,

Amidst antagonistic scribed evidence of dark negativity.

Pain and fear are played like anthems in this world,

The lines of good and evil get blurred.

Accepting the blindfolds offered by darkness,

Keeps us from the amazing; joy and renewal are missed.

If we seek, on purpose, the inspiring wonder,

Evidence of God’s goodness will be discovered.

Hope Lives On…

(Photo: By nuchylee, published on 02 February 2011)

The impact of evil amongst a canvas of blue

Three planes hit their targets led by a few

Such devastation, such a catastrophic blow

On that September morning, who could have known…

That this day would be the last they would ever see

That no longer would they know the touch of their friends and family

No longer would they hold their child and tuck them into bed

No longer would they see their smile or hear their laughter again

America at rest, comfortable with their freedom and lives

Going along each day without thought of an impending strike

The shock, the tears, the hopelessness, the fear and the rage

A hint of terrors lingering power was preserved on a frozen page

Forever life would change, America eternally altered

Defense would strengthen, our Nation would not be conquered

Terror showed its ugly, foul and evil face, for all the world to see

Yet, in error they underestimated the strength and determination of their enemy

Families would say good-bye to their loved ones, as they left to fight the unwelcomed war

Our military would fight to secure the freedom we hold dear, perhaps stronger now than before

Humanity was stunned; spirits united and began to heal

And while we were knocked down for a while, we stood strong to rebuild

They can knock down our buildings and take many human lives

They can try to transmit the fear born of the ugliness they harbor inside

They can rejoice at their “victory” and carry on as if they’ve won

But the Spirit of America and civil humanity will never be overcome!
