A slow drip,
quiet behind the scenes.
Amidst a sea of glass.
By a well constructed mask.
Fueled by strife
By the grumblings of this life,
By the self-seeking will
Which must be right.
Searching for validation
It can declare as home.
Steady drips abruptly shift,
Into crimson floods.
Unforgiving annihilation ensues.
Uncommitted to course or time.
The swirling torrent recedes
Sun illuminates the settled.
Revealing the wreckage,
Downed limbs and debris.
And the slow drip,
A whisper behind the scenes.
Amidst a sea of glass.
Smoothed by a well constructed mask,
Resumes it’s accumulation.
There is a frost within you,
Crippling the light and the warmth.
Shaving love from your life,
And the ice won’t let you mourn.
You push all who love you away,
Striking out in rage and attempts to control.
I see the vulnerability within you,
The battle you’re losing in your soul.
The losses you won’t acknowledge,
Are losses just the same.
And somewhere in your frozen core,
Your heart faintly beats to denial’s refrain.
Only God can thaw you,
His, the only healing.
Your razor sharp defenses,
Cannot shred all feelings.
And when the blood is allowed to flow,
Warm from your hidden wounds.
I pray God grants you strength to endure
Until then, I’ll still keep loving you…
Today’s Poem A Day prompt:
– a violent poem and/or a peaceful poem.
Take the anger, take the rage,
Cast them in a hurricane.
Smash them into pieces.
Toss them deep in sweltering flames.
Smother their pitch with the sun.
Slice them with an unforgiving blade.
Rip them to irreparable shreds.
Take from them their spirits and names.
Drown them far below the sea.
Bind them forever in spiked chains.
Torture them slowly with precision.
For peace, my friends…must reign!
She holds it all inside,
The hurts and fear she feels.
Slave to sustaining appearances,
A false smile offered to conceal.
Reaching out is weakness to her,
Established in her destructive strength.
Alone in a world she keeps at bay,
Within herself she continues to sink.
Her insides stew, destined to escape,
Without her approval or permission.
Unable to maintain her hiding,
In the depths of emotional oppression.
In fury, in rage, in lamenting tears,
Hidden no more, is what’s inside.
Control was simply a cruel illusion,
A consequence of denial and pride.
