I’m Here…

Look at me, see me
I’m strong and great underneath
Happy, joyous, free…

Small hints of demise
Twisting down in the abyss
Descent is alone

Whispers of Freedom…

A whisper, released from captivity,
Feather adrift upon the tongue.
Holding silent echoes, captured by the heart,
Unheard, unless one knows to listen.

Where secrets abide, lying in wait,
Screaming to be spoken in confidence.
Concealment causes a slow decay of the soul,
Constantly under light’s eye of suspicion.

A whisper, into the noisy silence,
Can you hear what’s being spoken?
The freedom found through exposure,
Will return quiet to peace again…

Tick, Tick, Tick… Held Inside

She holds it all inside,
The hurts and fear she feels.
Slave to sustaining appearances,
A false smile offered to conceal.

Reaching out is weakness to her,
Established in her destructive strength.
Alone in a world she keeps at bay,
Within herself she continues to sink.

Her insides stew, destined to escape,
Without her approval or permission.
Unable to maintain her hiding,
In the depths of emotional oppression.

In fury, in rage, in lamenting tears,
Hidden no more, is what’s inside.
Control was simply a cruel illusion,
A consequence of denial and pride.

I Spy…

You may have to look
A little deeper to find
We are what surrounds…

Exists In The Unseen…

The terror was strangling close,
Puppeteer to my light speed heart.
Molten breath upon my throat,
Jagged teeth threatening to mar.

I learned to seek the light for safety…

The light rushed past the demolished damn.
God heard my silent cries and stolen screams.
The darkness was brought into submission;
The evil had to flee.

And I knew peace…

Yet I know, lurking in unseen light-void shadows,
No visual trace with which to anchor.
Are the demons of my tormented past,
Waiting for me to, again, kneel in fear.

I hold tight to God’s strong grip…

God is more powerful than any evil I could know,
Yet, my inability to see proves immaterial .
I mustn’t turn a blind eye to things hidden from view,
I respect the good and evil in the ethereal.

I remain vigilant…

Authenticity… (Revised)

How much do we hide,

Of our true selves?

Showing others what we wish them to see,

Hoping they’ll learn of nothing else.

Pridefully painting portraits,

To present to an attentive world.

A world waiting to drink us in,

Or strike us with judgements’ sword.

Who are we trying to convince,

Of the validity of our emblematic masks?

The prying eyes of others,

Or the shadows that we cast?

Are there individuals:

Who escape the need to escape?

Who successfully hide from hiding?

Who expose themselves without being exposed?

Who are authentic in their authenticity?

Perhaps, maybe in circles so small,

As to include God and no one else.

Total disclosure isn’t for every onlooker,

But, we sometimes keep ourselves a secret… from ourselves.

When we refuse to embrace our truth,

And we run, as if it will help,

We get carried away by the falsities we bought into,

And become subdued by adopted doubt.

To receive liberation from our own tauntings,

Which tell us we’ll never be free.

Might mean shattering the lies based in fear,

That prevent true authenticity…

Words Unspoken…

Sometimes things better left unsaid,

Aren’t better left unsaid, at all.

Many elephants in the room have been born

Who never see their fall.

Fear moves us not to move.

Denial holds us in place.

Avoidance solidifies comfort,

At least for the moments’ sake.

But what of the next moment,

And the moment following that one?

As with words said, can one’s unspoken

Ever be undone?

We are deceived to think the words died

With the lack of our attention.

For me I’ve found, most often,

They just lead to internal contention…
