Kingman Wash in Arizona. Iphone snap
Crystal jewel amid desert rigidity,
Exposed in willing transparency.
Deep tonal blue your reflective canopy,
Your icy December embrace still entices me.
My fingers playfully seek
Expectant through chilled caress,
I feel the settled stones,
You and time have smoothed diligently.
And respectfully I acknowledge,
You haven’t always known such serenity.
Rugged unpolished rocks,
Droughts and waters raging.
Yet I know and remember when trials oppress,
Serenity IS, and when absent, will again be…
January 1, 2015
With urgency, gathering all her strength,
Time progressing in obedience.
She tries to suspend the moment forever,
He’s leaving soon, risking life for defense.
The thought of losing him is torment.
To breathe she needs his love, his heart.
Sharing a singular beat, they’re united as one,
She has to ensure he doesn’t depart.
So she holds tight the the chains she lassoed time with,
As shards of active moments escape.
Knowing within, the efforts are futile,
Tomorrow will come; there will be a new day.
Yet she holds on till hands bleed, and chains empty,
Tears flowing from her darkened skies.
Weak from fighting a battle she couldn’t win,
In powerless despair she now prepares, to say her goodbyes.
Emotions ignited upon remembering
Returning to a time or place
In a state of wakeful dreaming
Sights and sounds are reborn
Smells enhance the memories
In the living color that engulfs
Our personal histories
Fondness, sorrow, peace, regret
Sometimes it’s difficult to linger
In the longing that we know
While revisiting dusty mirrors
At times tears are born of pain
At others they are born of joy
There is recognition that much has changed
Just below all the accepted noise
Whispers of what once was
Shouts of what may have been if
In the form of curse or gift…
