I’m Here…

Look at me, see me
I’m strong and great underneath
Happy, joyous, free…

Dance in the rain today… Poem A Day Challenge, Day 11

image

Poem A Day Prompt, Day 11: For today’s prompt, make a statement the title of your poem and either respond to or expand upon the title.

Dance in the rain today.
~~~
Revert to your youth,
And retire the adult.
Mind not what you wear,
Forget umbrella and coat.
Twirl around with abandon,
Arms raised high in the air.
Embrace the falling drops,
Get drenched without care.
Hear music playing within your heart.
Listen to the watery refrains.
We are not promised tomorrow so,
Dance in the rain today!!!
Upswing, Along For The Ride!
image
Windows down on journey
Warm sun upon my face
Hair tangling in the wind
Concerns, but a trace.
Sky blue, with white cotton drops
iPod shuffle serenades me
Only happy songs allowed to stay
Feeling the high of a needed upswing!
How great to ride
Rather than drive…
Happy Palms…
image
Palm trees in the Las Vegas,
Brought from far away.
Transplanted into sandy ground,
About which, they had no say.
Yet they seem to be quite happy,
Despite the lack of rain.
They have the loyalty of the sun,
And winds to help them sway!
And how about the late night music?
The lights that make them glow?
The crazy things they get to witness,
That the world may never know?
It is true what they say,
At least in many a circumstance.
What happens in Vegas stays there,
Where many happy palms dance.
All Smiles…
There’s a smiling stone,
Which can give you “rock” hard abs.
When he makes you laugh!
pic: my collection (from Red Rock Canyon).
I came across this little guy while hiking today- too cute not to share! Hope this finds you smiling and well.
To James: You Will Be Missed…
You’ve been instrumental,
In helping me to change.
Many have tried before,
But I always remained the same.
You helped me open my eyes,
When I didn’t even know they were shut.
Exposing the falsities I’d subscribed to,
As destructive and corrupt.
You showed me there’s a different way,
To live this life I’ve been given.
That existing needn’t be such a struggle,
And I can escape my self-made prison.
You sold me hope with love,
In exchange for surrender.
Convincing me there’s a better way,
Than my adopted misadventures.
You laid out a map of sorts,
Leading to a different life.
And you showed me some tools,
To help me live it right.
You saw things in me,
Things I couldn’t see or understand.
I didn’t even know to look,
For the devil’s contraband.
You’ve touched so many lives,
And I know you’ll touch many more.
I wish you success and blessings,
As you walk through new doors.
You’ll always hold a special place,
Deep within my heart.
A place reserved by God Himself,
One for you He specifically carved.
Know you’ve made an impact,
That you are a strong light in darkness.
I pray you continue your crusade with vigor,
And fulfill your God-assigned purpose…
This is dedicated to a man who helped me change my life through recovery from drugs and alcohol.  I, as an alumni of the treatment program I was in, have been able to revisit his lectures two days a week.  He will be moving on to another position now. He will be missed.
Joy Turns to Sorrow…
Image
In the blink of an eye,
My laugh’s become a cry.
Settling anew with tear’s stains,
On the tail end of a fun, energetically sleepless high.
Fearing the decline, the abyss,
Where I find myself trapped for a stint.
Until an appointed time of release,
When the sorrow finally ends.
“They” call it bipolar mood cycling,
The cruel shift, euphoria’s exit.
Echoes of wakefulness spiked with joy,
Turn to liquified, molten lament.
Required to ride it out,
I’ve gotten better with the passing of time.
But I’d rather avoid this darkness,
While I’m waiting to realign.
