What if I can’t?
What if you can?
What if I fail?
What if you succeed?
What if I am hurt?
What if you are healed?
Why are you always so down,
Filled with gloom and doom?
A spirit expecting the worst,
Things will turn out bad you assume.
Your life’s been hard in the past,
But the past lives in yesterday.
This moment right now is new.
Dark lenses bind you as a castaway.
I wish positivity for your heart and mind,
Life is filled with more light than you see.
But you have to seek it to find it,
Hope can set you free…

Foul spirit of negativity,
Bearer of frustration and strife.
You are not welcome in my presence,
Not wanted in my life.
You try your best to bait me,
Ripping me from my place of peace.
Nullifying the sun’s glow upon my spirit,
Seeking my surrender and defeat.
I inadvertently humor you at times,
The stench of your canine breath hidden.
Seeing only the sheep’s clothing,
Exposing my soul, to simply get bitten.
You enter into the people I know,
Generating exchanges, conflict-laden.
And I fall prey to, and cooperate with your efforts,
To cause joy’s dehydration.
It takes me a moment to call you a spade,
To ask God to watch over my tongue.
To pray I’ll be slow to anger and offend,
But once you’re made, you’re soon overcome.
As I endure your invasion, until you’re overcome.
