Your mouth spills venomous poison.
Selling hurtful jabs as truth.
Spawning falsities and confusion,
While you stand proud and aloof!
Wrestling with whether I should agree,
With your situational interpretations.
Playing out the scenarios again and again,
Attempting to learn from replays in slow motion.
Sometimes settling into acceptance,
Of that which is not mine to embrace.
Other times empowered by defiance,
Of your strong efforts to deface.
If I don’t know my truth,
I’ve nothing to use as defense.
But I think I’ll resolve to walk away,
Seek clarity, and fight offense!!!
Speech in black and white
Same threat as mouth in action?
Or does it lose might?
I question the written word
Expressing thoughts with edits
Maybe it’s not as dangerous
As the human tongue is
The tongue, mighty and destructive
A small fire ignites the entire forest (James 3:5)
Strange that something so small
Can be packed with such abhorrence
Death and life abide in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21)
And it can’t be tamed by man (James 3:8)
So I’d like to think that black and white
Will give me the upper hand
