Poetic Journey in Personal Discovery

Friday Fictioneers prompt for 28 March 2014. (Found on a great blog I follow: http://theeclecticpoet.com/2014/03/27/jealousy-kills-friday-fictioneers/)

What is Friday Fictioneers? Rochelle presents a challenge to write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and end, based upon a picture that she provides on her blog.

Here is today’s picture prompt (below).

Mangled No More

Word Count: 100

Genre: Fiction

Walking among the mangled and familiar. Sarah considers her life a parallel. She knows these woods will untangle her thoughts, they always have. She considers her decision as clear as her diminishing high will allow. Trying to imagine her life free from addiction’s rule. Then, suddenly, a whisper upon the wind speaks to her soul. She feels her mother’s presence and falls to her knees in tears. She knows what has to be done. Her fears must be shed and light pursued. Deciding to leave the twisted forests of her past, she takes steps to lead her back to herself.
