These are separate, yet interconnected.  All refer to photographs. Arranged as “light” to “dark” to “light” to “dark”.

Mirrored images of beauty

On display for the world to see

Expressing interpretations

An artistic revelation

Illustrating nature at play

Capturing magic in the day

Born through patient observation

An artistic revelation

Fleeting beauty of the moment

Is placed on hold; we are reminded

Encouraging exploration

An artistic revelation

Answers sought, messages relayed

Hidden behind smiles, frozen, fake

Mysteries and secrets abound

In a photo, truth may be found

Proof of guilt or innocence

Blackmail scandals surreptitious

Lives destroyed in one single bound

In a photo, truth may be found

Lustful images may destroy

Addictions are subtle and coy

Innocence burned to the cold ground

In a photo, truth may be found

Answers sought, messages relayed

In a photo, truth may be found

Life’s moments stand still with each snap

History’s preserved and in tact

Unspoken expressions exist

Time’s frozen by a single click

We reminisce upon the past

To memories we tightly grasp

Emotions, like wild fires, are lit

Time’s frozen by a single click

In piles scattered upon the floor

With both smiles and tears we explore

Discovering gems as we sift

Time’s frozen by a single click

Life’s moments stand still with each snap

Time’s frozen by a single click

Time capsules holding moments past

Moments which won’t, forever last

Attempts to protect memories

What once was, will not again be

Reflections of experience

We use to define and make sense

Of our lives we couldn’t foresee

What once was, will not again be

If we look deep inside the frame

We may see the truth it contains

Secrets seek a chance to be free

What once was, will not again be

Time capsules holding memories past

What once was, will not again be

  1. This is awesome ma’am! The use of rhyme and repetition is very well orchestrated and brilliantly captures the subject matter which is fabulously transcribed upon the page/screen. The content is especially easy to understand and relate towards and thus makes it all the more enjoyable. Again, a great piece ma’am! 😀

    A WONDERFUL LONG JOURNEY!!!!

  3. These are incredible! You really have embraced this form in such a wonderful way. What a fabulous way to start off my morning. 🙂

    • Thank you! I’m grateful for your “nudge” with the challenge. I’ve said it before- I have always loved poetry, been writing it since I was ten. However, I’ve never looked at my style and tried to stretch beyond simply throwing down some rhyming thoughts. I’ve never even taken a creative writing course- something I want to remedy. So, I I know very little about formal writing styles. This blog, and the blogs I follow have been inspiring, and a great catalyst to my growth. Thanks for being such a vital part of that!

  4. Very well done dear General!!!
